Today I have an interview with Almawad who recently achieved proseller status. Here is their story of their journey to this achivement.
I have so many ideas - and I hope that by the time I will be able to show more and more to my customers . I was born in a little town Tapolca, Hungary. It was in 1960's- a top of a baby boom wave – so there were always lots of kids around me –we used to draw a lot on the asphalt using the soft red stones which can be found in abundance around my hometown. On some rainy days my parents would entertain us by slide show tales .I remember how much I was fascinated by the wonderful colors of those projected pictures .That was the era of the black and white TV .Besides wherever I looked – I saw beautiful mountains. In the centre of the town there was a lake - with an old water-mill. The underground caves were wonderful –and on its lake we were rowing with my father. I saw colors there- shades of blue that I have never seen anywhere else. I was surrounded by beauty and magic a great forest near us, a stream behind the blocks, a famous lake –Balaton- just a stones throw from there.
I had to leave my paradise when I was eight In our new home there were no mountains – no streams , no forest .,no underground caves with lakes . I felt very much lost- I became a dreamy child who escapes to her fantasy from the reality. I read a lot – and soon I started to write my own stories and drawing my own pictures. Many people had encouraged me- when it was about writing –but no praises for my drawings. As a result I wrote lots of articles read by millions of people – but I gave up painting for some fifteen years I did not draw or paint anything. When I started again it was for my interest in psychology – by the wish to understand better my inner self. It gave me so much joy that art became part of my daily routine. I love very much the Art- Nouveau style – and the famous Zsolnay - china designer family. I am also touched by another Hungarian artist Csontvary – and his painted visions. I have been living in Qatar for some eight years now following my husband here .
When I moved to this country 7 hours flight from my homeland I found myself much isolated .My husband was working all day , my child went to school and I lived in a city where I did not know anybody .For not to go stir crazy I had to find a hobby and it was digital paintings . We got two more babies to the existing one and besides the happiness that they gave me I found more than ever that I needed art as an escape from the daily routine . I have been creating for some years for my own joy .Knowing nothing about pixels and
resolutions .Many times I saved my art as small as possible because my other family members needed space on the computer .
I was dreaming in secret that one day I would set up a shop and would print my own things and try to sell them . One day when I am rich enough ... That seemed to be in the distant future .But my dreams came true faster than I have ever dared to dream . I discovered that POD sites exist and no need to be rich to invest in an own printing machine we can sell online without that and I tried to sell my art . I managed to sell some . When I came across Zazzle I did not think much of that .It was just another site that I joined and I sometimes added art .If I ever came back here that was for the lovely community I found here .In fact I found that getting feedback was very nice.Writing comments and getting ones was the thing that made me stay here .Not the sales which came at very slow pace in the beginning .My first sale was a canceled one. I hope that Zazzle remains as cool as they are nowadays .This is the best place for selling art. I have tried many. I believe in original art. Sometimes I take a clip art or vintage card on public domain but most of my art is my original one. I think this is the way to be successful on the long run. If you copy someone 'style you may have short time success but soon another copycat will turn up ... Be original ! That is my advice .
